Tips for water feature use

Care & safety advice

  • Always ensure the pump is fully submersed when in use.
  • Change and top-up the water on a regular basis. It is important to use clean, fresh water to prevent the pump from getting clogged with debris or algae.
  • Never let the pump run dry, as this will cause damage and will invalidate the warranty.
  • If the fountain is not in use for an extended period of time, unplug the pump and drain the fountain completely.
  • During winter, never allow ice to form in the fountain, as it may cause damage. Drain the fountain and store away from freezing temperatures.

Choosing the ideal water feature

Consider how much space you have available, knowing this will help you determine the size of water feature.

Decide whether you want your fountain to stand out as a focal point, or blend in with the surrounding landscape.

Ensure the area of ground you choose is flat and stable to prevent the water feature from shifting or spilling water.

You will need to connect the pump to a power outlet, so consider where your outlet points are and where you will place the cord. Or for solar-powered fountains, you will need to ensure the solar panel is exposed to sufficient daylight.

As a general rule modern sculptural and angular looking features will look best in rocky garden areas or patios, and softer looking fountains will suit a classical garden with clean borders and symmetrical arrangements.
